9/9/16-9/13/16: MALDIVES
When you think of Maldives you think of pristine beaches & honeymoon resorts. Well I got that, but also saw a more local angle of Maldives that was incredible. With my time in SE Asia slipping away, I booked a YOLO trip to Maldives with my friend Fen. Tickets were "only" $400SGD for a direct flight to the Male... I've realized I'm a helluva lot more liberal with my money nowadays.
This trip was pretty spontaneous as we literally had nothing booked till about 24 hours before departure. Thankfully, Fen had some local contacts who really made the trip as awesome as it was. Is 4 days enough? Yes. I don't know about you but I can only really beach bum/chill super hard for a couple days. We did through some scuba/snorkeling/fishing in which did mix up the chilling
Itinerary:
- Vilingili (5 minutes from Male) - Local Island where we stayed at Seaside Hotel for 1 night. Solid room with AC, but we were mostly hear to hang out with Niko + Family
- Scuba Dived @ Vilingili house reef - this was aite.
- Holiday Village resort (2 nights) - We took an 1hr 45 min ferry from Male to get here. Cost us about $120 USD, but i'd say it was worth it to get the beaches and isolation that it bought us.
- Snorkled with Manta Rays
- Went Big-game fishing...hoping to catch a Marlin... but caught nothing
